The recently promoted controller for a regional sales unit of a chemical producer sees inappropriate revenue recognition practices in her new group and struggles with how to respond. This case works well as part of a broader discussion about honest and accurate reporting practices. In addition to accounting, these materials work well in discussions of ethics and in discussions of the different levers that may be appropriate for managers at different levels within an organization.
