Case Teaching Seminar, June 6–7, 2024

Darden School of Business faculty and Darden Business Publishing will be offering a program that focuses on how Darden faculty teach the cases that are at the heart of a Darden education and support the success of its students. 

The program, “Student-Centered Learning: Enhance Engagement and Learning with Proven Case Teaching Techniques,” will feature Darden professors Yael Grushka-Cockayne and Marc L. Lipson. The course will take place on June 6 and June 7 at the University of Virginia Darden Grounds, located in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Program Format: This two-day seminar has a two-part structure. During the first day and a half participants will attend both full-group and breakout learning sessions in which they will have many opportunities to discuss and explore case teaching techniques. The latter half of the second day will be a practicum in which participants will be given the opportunity to lead a portion of the discussion, observe others doing so, and both provide and receive feedback.

Participants: This program is designed for faculty and corporate/organizational trainers and educators who wish to master the case method’s pedagogical approach and to develop further their own unique teaching styles. This seminar is appropriate for new and experienced instructors in any area of business study. The sessions will be highly interactive—to model the processes and techniques discussed in class as well as to generate learning-by-doing opportunities for the participants.

Although early bird registration for this session is open through April 15, 2024, space for the practicum is limited to 20 seats, so please reserve your seat as soon as possible.
