This case deals with the project on establishing a rural piped water supply scheme in a village of Bihar. The Chief Engineer, Public Health Division, Patna, Bihar called his team members to have the fourth and final meeting to discuss the resource scheduling, materials management and the man-power requirements in detail. This case demonstrates how a Gantt chart can be created from the critical path developed in the earlier case. Unless any other information is provided, uniform distribution of cost and manpower is assumed. The use of a Gantt chart for preparing a weekly budget, resource planning and material requirement planning was also discussed during the meeting.

This case has four different objectives: a) How to Develop Early Start (ES) or Late Start (LS) Gantt Chart in a Rural Project from the Critical path Method. This helps in scheduling the project. b) How to allocate cost for different sub-activities involved in the project on a weekly basis from the Critical path Method c) How to perform the materials requirement planning for a project from the information given in the case d) How to perform Manpower allocation for different activities on a weekly basis.
