Product Details
In early 2026, Maya Torres, a general partner at Nimue Capital (Nimue), is reflecting on StreamLynq, Inc. (StreamLynq), one of her earliest bets. Over the past six years, she has championed StreamLynq through multiple rounds of financing. Now that it is approaching a potential exit, Torres faces the complex task of assessing what Nimue’s continued support has meant—both strategically and financially. This fictional case follows a start-up through multiple rounds of venture financing. As the start-up’s cap table evolves from Series A through Series D and ultimately to exit, students are introduced to the concepts of equity dilution and liquidation preferences. At the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, it is taught in the second-year MBA elective, “Venture Capital Finance.”
