Product Overview

This case, a follow-up to "Yayasan Tahija and Venture Philanthropy: The Eliminate Dengue Project (A)" (UVA-E-0427), continues the story of the Tahija family foundation, Yayasan Tahija, as it continues to work to craft solutions to Indonesia's societal problems. After much deliberation, Yayasan Tahija's leadership decided that the work to eliminate dengue fever was too important to abandon. The foundation set out to work with the World Mosquito Project and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on an experimental project that had potential to slow or prevent the spread of the disease. Nothing was certain and there were huge challenges involved with the project, not to mention a number of critics. Yayasan Tahija needed to build community and government support along with determining the best way to conduct the project so it met the highest scientific standards.
